Winding Wood Capital is a Lexington, Kentucky based investment company formed to acquire a Kentucky based business. We are looking to make a control investment where we can add long term value. Whether through investing in equipment, implementing new technologies, pursuing adjacent markets or adding resources, we seek to power an established business to the next level.
We are not a private equity fund. We do not have an established hold period and do not seek to buy a business just to resell it in a few years – we would prefer to own it for decades. We seek to be involved in the day-to-day operations of the business and favor the grit of small business over big corporate bureaucracy. We view our coworkers as teammates and seek to reward everyone for successful outcomes.
We’ve seen the story play out. An owner, after years of dedication to building a stable business, finds a significant portion of their capital tied up in the company with no clear successor. As these businesses reach a pivotal moment, they face the challenge of providing an exit path for existing owners while ensuring continuity for current teammates and customers.
This is where we see the opportunity and get excited about the future for companies that align with our target criteria. We believe the coming years will witness an increase in demand for American manufacturing, with small businesses serving as the backbone and beneficiaries. With an infusion of innovation, fresh perspectives, and strategic investment, we believe these companies are uniquely positioned for growth, offering an unparalleled opportunity for transformative value.

Will was born and raised in the bluegrass state. Although he spent several years throughout the Southeast, he began to feel the need to return to Lexington to pursue his goal of owning a business and promoting further investment in his home state.
Before establishing Winding Wood Capital, Will led strategy at Iconex, a private equity-backed leader in paper receipt and labeling solutions. During his time at Iconex, he played a pivotal role, working alongside other senior leadership, in driving the company’s growth, completing five transformative acquisitions and ultimately facilitating its sale to a strategic partner. In addition to his work on acquisitions and divestitures, Will contributed to capital raising efforts, financial forecasting, and various special projects. Prior to Iconex, he began his career at SunTrust Robinson Humphrey (now Truist) in debt capital markets, where he specialized in the technology, media, and telecom sectors. Will earned his degree in Industrial Engineering from Clemson University.
Will resides in Lexington, Ky with his wife Marie, their son and golden retriever. Outside of the office you will find him floating on one of Kentucky’s many incredible waterways or engaging in one of way too many outdoor hobbies.
